CAMP IS OVER
Bruns Academy camp is officially over, and unfortunately that means my time with my special 4th grade class is over as well. To follow up on last weeks post, I have found yet another reason I could never be a teacher…I would not be able to handle getting a new group of children, getting to know them, love them, and then having to leave them every year! Even after only 2 weeks I have grown to love these children like I could’ve never imagined I would. They will continue to hold a special place in my heart. I can honestly say that these past 2 weeks have been tiresome and exhausting with these kids, but 2 of the best weeks I’ve ever had volunteering. Seeing these kids open up to me and begin to consider me a friend touched my heart so incredibly much. I was so blessed and lucky to have had the opportunity to serve in an environment that everyone is a part of at one point, but so many people take advantage of, because above all else, this week gave me a new appreciation and respect for teachers that I’ve never had before. I was left alone with some of the students for about 45 minutes this past week and was in complete awe that someone does this 5 days a week for 8 hours without help most of the time. IT. WAS. EXHAUSTING. I had definitely never realized how hard that was, until it was me that was given that responsibility…and it was only for 45 minutes! APPRECIATE TEACHERS that are out there giving this next generation love, support, and endless teaching.
I will miss my class dearly and can’t wait to see some of their bright, smiling faces throughout the rest of this school year when I go back to visit throughout the year!
